To my dear readers,
First, I would like to thank Jessica for becoming my patron and Mochakat9 for increasing her pledge to me. I know my rewards are quite bad and readers basically have no incentive to be my patron unless they just want to read the chapter a few hours before the rest of the world. lol
I don’t offer any advance chapters (because my brain is slow and also I don’t have the rights to the novel so it makes me feel like I’m making people pay to read).
Hence, I’m very grateful people are still willing to be my patron or donate. I truly appreciate you all!
After trying to fool with the aggregator sites for months, I’ve learnt a lot.
1. Novelplanet and novelonlinefree are too pro. Passwords cannot stop them. HOWEVER, they can’t tell what’s the real chapter if I link a blog post that has over 500 words (or something like that). If I link a short article, they don’t steal it. It has to be of a longer length…
2. Readlightnovel can tell that I’m not linking the actual chapter. They have not stolen any of my blog posts. HOWEVER, so far, it looks like they cannot bypass the password as they did not steal 198 and 199 (since you have to use the password).
3. Novelplanet steals pictures and screenshots too.
4. Novelonlinefree doesn’t steal images but sometimes goes back to steal my work afterwards.
5. No right click on desktop/laptop is ineffective towards all of them. But I keep it on anyway in case some other sites are copy and pasting.
Anyhow, I’ll still be linking a post for the bots to steal. The chapter will be released later. Thank you so much for choosing to read my translations despite how troublesome it is.
I’m actually surprised how many of you wait for me despite having google translate. Google translate is actually quite accurate now! They used to suck but they’ve gotten a lot better. If you can’t wait, I highly suggest you to use it because you’ll find out exactly what happens. Google can translate in a few seconds, whereas I need hours to translate one chapter. The grammar may be a bit odd because Chinese syntax is very different, but it’s getting really good.
Okay, so it turns out readlightnovel managed to steal the chapters in the end. I took away the passwords because they don’t work against the aggregators.
The Slight Edge <– This is a very empowering book. I like to read these type of books because it motivates me to keep going when I’m struggling. I hope my words could make a positive impact in your lives. I want to know that my existence has made a difference to you. <3
Here is Chapter 201
just post a whole bunch of links and see what happens
Hey Grace, I happened to stumble on your blog from NovelUpdates and I’ve been stalking several of your posts to see how you’ve been dealing with the bots stealing translations. I just started a translation project and it is sooo disheartening to see all our hard work being ripped onto other sites. Sites like Novelplanet are still alright for me as their bots are pretty dumb and copies translations wholesale without removing the blog domain I add in the middle of the post. Even though I miss out on the views, I’m not running ads so I’m ok as long as readers know where it came from (at least that’s what I try to convince myself).
It’s readlightnovel that really gets to me as it specifically remove the domains that are too obvious at the top or bottom of the post. I placed a photo that told readers to check back my original post (chapter 4 if you’re curious to see) in a while as I will be uploading some fan art and it cleverly deleted that photo even though this photo got reposted with no problem on other sites and photos from previous posts got sucessfully reposted on readlightnovel as well. I’m really wondering if their bot is that sophisticated or they have someone roughly checking through the chapters (which explains why they can do what they did in your blog post). But if they do it’s really not doing a good job either as it deleted my translator’s notes while removing the domain for one post and the author’s bonus content for another (dumb crap).
By the way, I’ve accidentally discovered a solution for Novelonlinefree. The bots of this website and a few other sites (eg. novelzec) are less sophisticated and get messed up by emojis. I got lazy to translate a sentence from chapter 2 properly and used the 100 emoji instead, which resulted in them not being able to rip anything after the emoji. Too bad this doesn’t work for the more sophisticated bots.
Hi Xing!! Yeahhhh readlightnovel has some sophisticated bots! I have been trying to outsmart them but they still keep stealing my translations. I am trying something new now so we’ll see if it works! (I link the chapter from one of my old announcement posts) Anyhow, you should consider getting ads! Ads pay really little so you might only make a few pennies or dollars but it’s better than nothing. I’m not home at the moment but I’ll check your site later!
And yeah, I tried linking my site at the bottom of my translations before but readlightnovel removed all my links. Sigh. Talk to you soon.
I’m translating purely because I like the novel and it’s pretty short at 106 chapters! I’m get already get a kick from knowing that my translation makes readers happy to read it. Readlightnovel’s bot is very odd. Let me know how the method you’re trying works for you! I’m thinking of splitting chapters in the future and uploading half in the actual post and the other half in a separate link so that only half of a chapter will get stolen. Have you tried this before?
It’s working so far! I don’t know if it’ll be delayed theft though… maybe you can try it too!
By the way, I checked out your translations. IT IS SO CUTE AND GOOD! Thank you for your hard work!! Haha. I’m so addicted to the story. Tang Xue is soooooo CUTEEEEEEEE. lol she’s such a bully!
And no, I’ve never tried splitting the chapters in half before.
I’m so glad you like the story! I love wacky MCs like Tang Xue so much. Btw, thanks for the shoutout on your latest post! I’ve bookmarked The Eunuch for future reading. I’m currently on a burnout for ancient China stories cause I think I binged too much. Will check out your other translations as well!
