Next, I had some issues with my site. Apparently, it was some caching issue. Hopefully, it won’t happen again!?! I hope this will show up on mobile and tablet now. (Initially, my post wasn’t showing on mobile/tablet until a day later).

Also, the writing became extremely disorganized and confusing near the end. If you read the raws, you will understand. I tried minimizing it as much as I could, but you might like be WTF….since the author is creating a lot of unnecessary drama. But this sad arc will be short. Just hang in there for 5 chapters or so???? (I won’t know exactly how many until I am done translating).

To my dear readers,

I hope you guys are all doing well! We’re at 280! I think I’m on track to finishing at 300 but we’ll have to see. I’m spending A LOT of time editing the raws. It is definitely a lot of work. I’m very tired, but I really want the novel to do well.

Sigh. When you are managing your own site, there’s so much to do. Let me give you a list of things that I have to do:

1. Try to not get banned (going through old comments and editing out swear words from readers), making sure I’m not writing anything too ******  *PLEASE DO NOT USE THE F WORD*
2. Market myself (try to gain more readers either by promoting shamelessly on social media or telling other people about it)
3. Translate the novel (Go through the Chinese version a few times, edit out garbage, translate it, tries to make it sound like English instead of Chinese English)
4. Answer comments (ok, I rarely do this nowadays because I’m too lazy and busy. But I used to reply to every single reader)
5. Think of how to stay alive and not become extinct (due to the number of web novels available, many readers are now stockpiling instead of reading chapter by chapter). You really have to stand out if you want to survive in this market
6. Think of how to fight aggregator sites (I have lost millions and millions of views from all these sites that steal from me)
7. Figure out how to get donations/pledges/people to financially support me (it’s really hard to gain a supportive fanbase that’s willing to pay. Since reading the novel is free, there is no need for anyone to donate or support me at all. They must want to do it from the bottom of their hearts. Not only that, they have to have the ability to support me as well) I am grateful for all of my supporters!!
8. Translate so well that people will be willing to read my other translations as well. If you guys are new, I’m also the translator of “Your Highness, I know my wrongs” as well as “Supernatural Girlfriend“. They’re both completed on volarenovels.com  If a reader reads both novels from the beginning to the end, I will make almost $0.14 per reader. (Yeah, you think novel translators make a lot? Think again)
9. Get more popular. If you’re not growing, you’re shrinking!!! Ahhhh. How can I get more readers? Sigh.

Okay that’s it. But it’s definitely much harder than working for someone else. If someone is paying you for your work, you have the stability and comfort. But when you’re doing it yourself, there’s no one to support you if you fail. So what if you invested hundreds of hours into something? If people don’t wanna read it, too bad for you. If people don’t want to support you, too bad.

Starting your own site/business/start up/whatever is tough. There is a lot more risk and there’s no guarantee that you will ever become “known”. You might have the best product or whatever it is, but if no one discovers you, you’re still screwed.

Anyhow, I read all the comments and I just want you guys to know that I’m thankful you’re reading my work. Hopefully this will be stolen by the bots. Sadly, a lot of the sites are too smart and they always get rid of my announcement post. Ughhhhhh.

Novelonlinefree took 800k views away from me. Omg… it seems like no matter what I do, my translations get stolen unless I put it behind patreon. *UGHHHHH* Sigh. My site is slowly dying, guys. So sad. During my prime, I could hit almost 20k views per day. Now, I can barely get 5k… oh dear…

But don’t worry, I’m still going to finish this novel. If you guys see no chapters from me, just be patient because I promise you I won’t quit. <3   . We are around 206 of the raws? There are only 220 chapters, but the chapters are SOOOOOO long and SOOOOOOOO draggy and SOOOOOO bad, so it takes a lot of brain cells for me to go through them before I can even start translating.

I know I’m always complaining, but at the end, I still get it done. That’s what matters, right? :P. I love you all and thanks for sticking around.

I should be able to finish by 300 or maybe even sooner (but if we get a few more 12k characters chapters, then no). The end of this novel is really worth it. So, please don’t drop this now! We have another emo arc after this… (but it’s really short). Then, Xuan’er is gonna mark his property and not let his daddy touch his mommy LOLOLOLOL. Stay tuned! <3

I know the chapters have been really short! I am trying to make them longer! This one is longer! I hope you’ll like it. It is honestly taking me a lot longer to translate. It’s not going to get any easier for the next 15 chapters or so…*sigh*. There is too much garbage.

Anyhow, here’s the chapter.

On the other side of the shore, Le Yao Yao had already finished arranging the wooden frames. She wasn’t there to hear the conversation between Leng Jun Yu and Leng Yi Xuan.

Earlier, when she saw that they were going to fish, she felt it was inappropriate to wait by the shore doing nothing. So, she began to gather some branches to create a spot to roast the fishes later.

Now that she was finished, she clapped away the dust in her hands and went over to the boys.

“What are you two talking about? Xuan’er, are you bothering uncle?”

“Mommy! Xuan’er wouldn’t bother uncle! Xuan’er just wants to persuade uncle to stay!” Xuan’er pouted, looking upset.

“Brother Du Gu wants to leave?” Le Yao Yao couldn’t hide the shock in her voice.

The moment she imagined him leaving, her heart felt like it was missing a corner.

Yu knew that Le Yao Yao didn’t want to accept it. But, he nodded. “I have something to attend to. I will be leaving soon.”

Le Yao Yao’s expression fell and she turned slightly pale. But, she nodded and forced a smile. “If that’s the case, I won’t force brother Du Gu to stay. Do you think we’ll meet again in the future?”

For some strange reason, she felt as if this was their final farewell. She really didn’t want him to go. Ever since they have been together, Du Gu had never taken off his conical hat. 

She truly wanted to see his face. If he would only take off his veil, she would get her answer! 

At the moment, Leng Jun Yu was crouching down slitting the raw fish. He could see her forced expression and his thin lips pursed.

Obviously, he was aware of her thoughts. Clearly, Yao Yao was trying to figure out whether he was the man she loved.

Yes, she guessed correctly. He is the man she wanted. But sadly, he can’t ever let her know that. 

Going through separation once is enough. His days are limited. Even if he wanted, he wouldn’t be able to stay with her for long. 

So, in order to stop her from furthering her investigation, he must leave. 

They will never see each other again. 

“We won’t see each other again.” Leng Jun Yu heartlessly replied. But every word was like a dagger digging into his chest.

Le Yao Yao bitterly smiled. “I see…” She had no idea that her smiling face looked worse than her crying face.

The wind picked up and the trees swayed. Their sleeves began to flutter.

Underneath the sunlight, both of them felt as if a layer of darkness was looming over them.

“Xuan’er, didn’t you say you wanted to learn how to fish? Uncle will teach you now. Okay?”

Perhaps Leng Jun Yu felt like the atmosphere was too uncomfortable, so he quickly turned to Leng Yi Xuan.

“Yay! Uncle is awesome!”

“Haha.”

Leng Jun Yu envied how the little guy smiled so freely. He had no worries and lived in the present.

When you’re clueless, you can be so much happier.

Leng Jun Yu handed the three fishes to Le Yao Yao. “I’ll hand the roasting part to you.”

“Alright. You two go have fun. When the fishes are ready, I’ll call you guys.”

“Mm.”

Then, Leng Jun Yu washed his hands and lifted Leng Yi Xuan onto his shoulders.

Leng Jun Yu was very tall. Compared to his son, he looked like a sturdy gigantic mountain.

Leng Yi Xuan was ecstatic and began to giggle. He loved sitting on every uncle’s shoulders. That way, he could see much further! It also made him felt like an adult.

In a few days, he would probably never hear this laughter again…

On shore, Le Yao Yao began to hang the fishes on the wooden frames. She was also observing Du Gu and her son.

The two figures, one white, one black, were splashing water at each other. The low chuckling could be heard amongst the bell-like laughter.

They were so different but blended so well. It was like listening to the world’s most touching melody.

The Sun slowly shifted, and the warmth spread throughout the land. The glistening light landed on the water and created a glowing effect on both the figures.

If only time could stop here…

I actually teared up when translating this one. I wonder if you guys feel sad too??? The novel is getting so draggy but there will be snu snu eventually!!!! It’s moving at a snail pace though.
